Can speed humps installed in a carpark be round on top or do they have to be ramped with a flat top?

The Australian Standard that regulates the design and use of speed humps for use in off-street parking in Australia is AS/NZS 2890.1 Parking Facilities, these are called Type 2 Speed Humps. It identifies four main criteria in the design of “type 2” speed humps: Height, cross sectional shape, ramp angle and markings. With regard to height the maximum for a type 2 hump is in the range of 25 to 75mm. The standard also specifies that they should have a flat top of between 100 and 150mm wide with a ramp up and a ramp down angled at a gradient of 1:2. The ramp length will be twice the height of the hump. More information can be found on our website.
