The Problem
As part of the signature turn-key specification process, a dedicated Barrier Group Account Manager visited the client’s facility to conduct an on-site assessment. Several key safety considerations were identified:
- There was frequent interaction between staff, visitors, and material handling vehicles such as forklifts;
- There were multiple pedestrian walkways intersecting with active working zones;
- Distinct operational areas, including dedicated workspaces and inventory/storage zones, both experienced dynamic and often unpredictable vehicle movement;
- Ongoing business growth meant almost certain future layout changes and increased throughput; and lastly
- An upcoming third-party audit meant installation needed to be completed by strict deadline.
The Solution
Following the initial on-site assessment and identification of key safety priorities, Barrier Group Account Manager Ben, alongside the Product Solutions team, designed and manufactured a tailored safety solution to ensure the new facility was fully equipped, compliant, and operationally safe from day one.
The turn-key solution focused on establishing clear pedestrian walkways, separating them from authorised personnel zones, and providing adequate protection in areas where heavy forklifts and machinery operate near staff workstations.
The full scope of the safety fit-out included:

✔ W-Beam Guardrail System (standard and custom-fabricated)
Single row (300 mm) W-Beam Guardrail was installed alongside Quadruple row (2000 – 2500 mm) W-Beam Guardrail as durable asset protection and partitioning around machines, equipment, and storage zones.
W-Beam Guardrail was recommended and selected for its heavy-duty structural integrity and compliance with Australian Standards, making it ideal for areas with a high risk of vehicle impact. It can also be easily customised and fabricated to suit a facility’s unique operational requirements - an important consideration for this customer.

✔ NoWeld Guardrail (custom-fabricated)
NoWeld Guardrail, powder-coated in Safety Yellow, was selected to clearly segregate pedestrian walkways from vehicle zones. As requested by the client, the system was custom-fabricated by the Barrier Group in-house Product Solutions team to include a top rail only.
NoWeld Guardrail was chosen for its modular, bolt-down design. True to its name, the system can be installed and reconfigured without the need for hot tools - an important benefit for client when adapting to future layout changes driven by operational growth. NoWeld is also fully compliant with AS 1657:2018.
