The Problem
The new Western Sydney International Airport (WSI), designed to accommodate up to 10 million passengers annually, is set to transform travel to and from Sydney through expanded aviation capacity.
In collaboration with Multiplex and Deemah Stone, Barrier Group was specified to design, manufacture and install an effective and durable queue management system to support their passenger experience.
The Solution
Approximately 1,000 Neata Flexi In-Floor Belt Posts, along with Neata Epoxy Flush and Carpet Sleeves, were installed throughout several operational areas within the airport environment to support organised passenger guidance and adaptable space management.
Why Neata In-Floor Flexi Belt Posts?
- The Neata Flexi In-Floor Belt Posts were selected for their ability to support efficient passenger guidance within key operational areas of the terminal. The system enables airport personnel to quickly deploy, remove, and reconfigure layouts as operational requirements change.
- Neata In-Floor Flexi Belt Posts are designed with both functionality and aesthetics in mind, the posts feature a sleek profile that complements the modern interior design of the new airport.
- The Neata Flexi system incorporates an impact-absorbing design, allowing the post to flex and return to its original position if contacted by passengers or luggage.
Each unit is installed using either carpet or epoxy flush sleeves to suit the terminal’s various floor finishes. This ensures secure positioning when deployed while allowing for quick and simple removal when areas need to be reconfigured.
As part of the project, Barrier Group developed training resources, including a dedicated training video, to assist airport staff in efficiently installing and removing belt posts when layouts are adjusted.
This approach highlights Barrier Group’s ability to deliver complete, turnkey infrastructure solutions that support the operational flexibility required in modern airport environments.
