When should I use 316 stainless steel bollards

316 stainless steel bollards (often called “marine grade”) are the superior and necessary choice for environments involving high corrosion risk or when long-term aesthetics are a priority, making them a worthwhile investment over the standard 304 grade. You should select 316 stainless steel bollards if the location has direct exposure to corrosive chemicals or fertilisers, is situated near swimming pools, fountains, or areas where de-icing salt is used, or is a highly exposed coastal location.

As a general rule: if you can smell the ocean or chloride, you must recommend 316 stainless steel bollards to ensure reduced maintenance and prevent premature corrosion of the stainless steel bollard.
