AWH Pty Ltd
AWH is one of Australia’s leading logistics and warehousing specialists, providing storage, handling, transport, and inventory management services across import, export, and domestic distribution networks. Primarily servicing the Australian wool and cotton industries, AWH handles close to one million bales of wool annually.
Operating across agribusiness, construction, renewable energy, and retail/wholesale sectors - both domestically and internationally - AWH manages high-traffic industrial environments where the safe interaction between pedestrians and vehicles is critical to maintaining operational continuity.
AWH collaborated with Barrier Group to implement an end-to-end safety solution at their Brooklyn Wool Selling Centre. The project encompassed Barrier Group’s asset protection solutions, including the strong and versatile NoWeld Industrial Guardrail and Handrail System and Ball-Fence Industrial Swing Gates.

The Problem
Given the nature of their business, it was crucial for AWH to implement reliable safety infrastructure to support their ongoing operations.
With an established traffic management plan in place, AWH chose Barrier Group for our proven expertise in engineering and delivering end-to-end industrial safety solutions: from initial site assessment through to factory-backed installation. This single-source solution reduced project complexity and ensured AWH’s operational continuity.
A dedicated Barrier Group Account Manager conducted a comprehensive initial on-site assessment of the Brooklyn Wool Handling Facility, reviewing existing infrastructure, inline with their established traffic management plan, and identifying operational safety gaps.
A key safety concern was identified in the interface between operational areas and staff amenities, specifically around the office and breakroom locations.
Key Concern: Pedestrian - Vehicle SegregationStaff are required to follow a designated pedestrian route when moving between the facility entrance office and the staff breakroom. This route intersects active wool-handling zones where forklifts operate continuously. The on-site inspection revealed there was no physical safety infrastructure in place to separate pedestrians from material-handling vehicles, presenting an elevated safety risk.
The Solution
In response to these priorities, Barrier Group worked closely with AWH to deliver a tailored, compliant, and future-ready safety solution aligned with the operational demands of the site. The full-scope safety fit-out was designed to address critical risk areas, including pedestrian-vehicle segregation and asset protection. This included:
NoWeld Industrial Guardrail and Handrail SystemOver 80 metres of NoWeld Industrial Guardrail and Handrail were installed to clearly define pedestrian walkways and physically separate staff from active forklift operating zones.
The NoWeld system was selected for its high structural integrity, compliance with AS 1657:2018, and modular bolt-down design - allowing the system to be easily reconfigured as site layouts evolve; an important consideration for AWH as their operations grow and expand.
All components were galvanised and powder-coated in high-visibility safety yellow to enhance visual guidance while delivering long-term durability in a demanding industrial environment.
Ball-Fence Industrial Swing GatesHigh-visibility Ball-Fence Industrial Swing Gates were installed at all key pedestrian entry and exit points to reinforce controlled movement along designated walkways. Both single and double gate configurations were used to accommodate standard and wide access requirements. Our installation team adjusted the tension on the double gate configurations, ensuring the latch-side gate closed last for a consistently secure seal.
The Ball-Fence Swing Gate was chosen for its robust self-closing mechanism, a critical feature in high-traffic environments where manual gate operation can be inconsistent. This ensures access points automatically return to a closed position, reducing the risk of human error and maintaining continuous pedestrian protection.
