The Problem

Petstock's next company growth stage required a much larger national distribution centre to store and ship goods to customers and retail stores around Australia. A 30,000 square metre warehouse was designed and built from scratch. In-depth pre-planning for the internal floor plan and daily operations lay out, in conjunction with workplace safety standards, was essential to long term success.

The Solution

Petstock approached Barrier Group to assist with the planning stages and to get professional guidance on floor plan lay outs, safety railings and walkways, asset protection products and general workplace safety solutions.

The Challenges

The large expanse of the warehouse roller doors meant that a standard size 5 metre long boom gate would not provide the reach required across the doorways. The Barrier Group Design team customised the Dock Safe Manual Boom Gate with a heavy-duty gas strut and increased the beam length from 5 metres to 6 metres. When the gate's boom is in the upright vertical position it allows the raised roller doors to be fully accessible for loading/unloading deliveries. When the roller door is closed, and the gate's boom is in a locked horizontal position, it then becomes part of the internal railing system allowing a safe walkway for pedestrian traffic.

Slight adjustments to a walkway access point were flagged during the installation process. Barrier Group's Installation team were able to accommodate the requested changes and quickly create and execute an ad hoc solution without any delay.

We consulted many times with the Barrier Group team during the lengthy pre-planning phase. They presented solutions and products throughout this process which continued on to the installation stage. The Barrier Group installers were also very accommodating and able to quickly and efficiently make small required changes prior to the jobs completion. Overall the service has been excellent.
