The Problem
The Solution
Bunnings Warehouse, Leopold engaged with Barrier Group to organise an on-site assessment of their Timberyard. The initial on-site assessment is a key component of the turn-key safety specification process because it allows the Barrier Group Account Manager to observe the area and evaluate suitable solutions in line with the customer's safety goals.
The store required a durable, visible, and adaptable safety solution that would enable their timberyard staff to temporarily close off areas during active operations. This included instances when material-handling vehicles, such as trolleys and forklifts, were in use, when staff were replenishing stock or handling goods, and during maintenance or cleaning activities.
Following the on-site assessment, the most suitable option was identified as a customised version of the Pilot Doorway Barrier Kit. Traditionally, the Pilot Doorway Barrier Kit is fixed to the end of a doorway. However, staff requested the flexibility to position it at various points along the length of the aisle. To achieve this, we customised both the barrier-mounted bracket and the receiver-mounted bracket with strong magnets, allowing staff to quickly place and remove the belt barrier as required.
Incorporating feedback from Bunnings and team members working regularly in that section of the store, the Barrier Group product solutions team collaboratively developed three prototypes, which were then installed and tested during store operating hours.
