New Video Series Gives Aussies an Inside Look at Workplace Safety in Action
From small local businesses to large national distribution centres where workplace safety is top-of-mind, viewers are being offered a rare behind-the-scenes look into real business safety challenges being solved, and life on the road, one site at a time, by Australian safety solution manufacturer, Barrier Group.
"Reps on the Road" spotlights the Barrier Group safety experts who strive to make Australian workplaces safer and more efficient every day.
"Many people still believe that workplace safety is simply having your workers wear high-vis, site signage and line marking. This is despite more than 25,500 workers in Victoria being injured seriously enough to have a claim for compensation accepted in 2024," says Aaron McLean, Team Leader at Barrier Group (Stats sourced from WorkSafe Victoria).
"We realised that business owners and safety managers often don't have a full picture of where to start when it comes to creating tailored safety solutions — and that if they get in touch with a safety solutions provider, they'll just be spoken to by a salesperson who doesn't actually understand the site."
Starting this May, award-winning workplace and pedestrian safety supplier and manufacturer; Barrier Group, will launch its new video series, "Reps on the Road," with each episode following a Barrier Group safety expert as they hit the road to visit warehouses, distribution centres, construction sites, and facilities in need of tailored safety solutions and advice.
"Our reps are more than salespeople — they're problem solvers," says McLean. "They're out looking for blind spots, building relationships, and ensuring each safety solution is uniquely adapted to the site's specific safety requirements."
In a bid to demystify workplace safety and the process of creating smarter, compliant safety solutions, Barrier Group created "Reps on the Road" — a 5-part video series available on YouTube and social media platforms, released fortnightly.
With the cameras rolling, viewers get to witness:
- Reps navigating real workplace hazards,
- working alongside clients and distributors on-site,
- turning complex compliance into practical, site-specific fixes,
- and gaining a glimpse into the reps' lives on the road around Australia.
Under development for the last 8 months, "Reps on the Road" gives new and existing customers and distributors the opportunity to see what expert safety service really looks like — not just in theory, but in the real world.
For the industry, it's a reminder that the best safety decisions aren't made in meeting rooms or on the phone. They are made on the floor, in real-time.
"The work isn't always glamorous — but what could be more important than the safety of workers in Australian workplaces?" says Robbie Alsop, Expert Site Safety Consultant. "No two days, or two job sites, are ever the same" .
Since its founding in 1999, Barrier Group has grown as a trusted Australian leader in the development, manufacture, and supply of workplace and pedestrian safety solutions.
The company has been a finalist at the Victorian Premier's Design Awards and received A'Design Awards for product design and service excellence. Clients include Cotton On, Metcash, Bunnings, and, most recently, the new Western Sydney Airport.
